Rachel was drawn to physical therapy from her extensive history in athletics and injuries! She grew up in Jackson, Mississippi to the parents of an OB/GYN and a Marriage and Family Therapist. She followed her older brother to Wake Forest University where she majored in Psychology. She spent summers on staff at a camp in western North Carolina where the met the love of her life! She returned to the deep South to marry a native Alabamian and to attend UAB for physical therapy school. After she graduated in 2006 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, she mixed general orthopedic work with pelvic health patients.

She earned a Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Therapy in 2008 from her intensive work with women with chronic pelvic pain. The next ten years she has continued her training in pelvic health, transgender health, pregnancy and postpartum-related issues, functional orthopedics, and dry needling. In 2016, she became a registered yoga teacher (200 hour). In 2018, she published a monograph for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) titled “Physical Therapy and the Obstetric-Gynecologic Patient.”

Most recently, Rachel has become a Sexuality Counselor! She can address many problems including sex with chronic pain, difficulty having orgasms, and redefining sexuality after childbirth, among others. She takes a strategy based approach and acts in an advisory role to help you achieve the most satisfying sexual life! She differs from sex therapists in that she does NOT provide intensive psychotherapy for complex or chronic mental health conditions, and she may refer to a sex therapist or other practitioner if/when appropriate.

Rachel loves to hike and be outdoors, and to take her dogs Hudson and Allie along with their human sisters on their family adventures. She may or may not be carrying a water bottle covered in pictures of vulvas!
